Effective date: August 26, 2026 · Legacy AI LLC
Legacy has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. This page sets out what we prohibit, how we act, and — because it matters — what our architecture allows us to see and what it does not.
Legacy requires all users to be 18 or older. We ask for confirmation of age at account creation, and we do not knowingly permit accounts belonging to minors. We do not market Legacy to young people, we build no features intended for them, and we will close any account we learn belongs to someone under 18.
This is our primary child-safety control. A service with no minors on it is not a place where children can be approached.
The following are prohibited absolutely, and result in immediate and permanent account termination without notice:
These prohibitions appear in our Terms of Service and are accepted by every user at signup.
Every piece of shared content in Legacy can be reported from within the app, on every surface where content is shared with others — posts, comments, messages, community threads, chat rooms, profiles, and aliases. Reports include a dedicated child-safety category.
You can also report directly to shawn@legacy-ai.app at any time, whether or not you have a Legacy account.
We would rather state this plainly than let anyone assume otherwise.
Legacy encrypts private content end-to-end. Journal entries are encrypted with a key held on the user's device. Direct messages between people are encrypted so that only the participants can read them. We cannot read either, and we cannot scan them — not for this, not for anything. That is a deliberate architectural choice, and we are not going to weaken it.
What this means concretely:
We consider the alternative — building the ability to read our users' private lives — to be a greater harm than the gap it would close. We are not the only safeguard, and we do not pretend to be.
